ACHTUS and BCTS community:

I write to inform you that you can now register for the 2017 ACHTUS/BCTS Joint Colloquium: To set the captives free… I hope that, like me, you see the urgent need for this joint gathering, and are able to join us in June in Albuquerque. The Colloquium will take place at the Hotel Andaluz, Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 4 – 7, 2017. A detailed schedule of events will follow by March 15, but a list of speakers and their presentation titles is at the end of this letter.

Below are instructions and forms for colloquium registration and hotel reservations. All attending are invited to Sunday evening’s opening mass and reception at the Norbertine Community.  We will conclude with the Enlaces and a closing prayer at noon on Wednesday, June 7.

Please follow the directions below if you will be attending the colloquium:

COLLOQUIUM REGISTRATION$160.00. This cost includes all coffee breaks throughout the Colloquium, all Colloquium materials, the BCTS/ACHTUS reception on Monday evening, and the Banquet on Tuesday Evening.

  • Make your Colloquium registration payment in check form Please make checks payable to “ACHTUS.”  If you are bringing a non-registrant guest to the banquet there is an additional $70 fee.
  • Sunday evening mass – On Sunday evening we will begin the conference with a mass at the Norbertine Retreat Center, followed by a small reception. The cost for transportation and the reception is an additional $40.
  • Your Colloquium Registration payment is due Friday, March 31, 2017. (See registration form below for more )

HOTEL INFORMATION – The 2017 Colloquium will take place in Albuquerque, NM, at the Hotel Andaluz, 125 Second St. NW. This independently run, award winning hotel offers many amenities. You can watch their promotional video for a closer look.

We have secured the rate of $135/night (excluding 13.3125% tax – 7.3125% NM gross receipt tax, 6% lodgers tax) for single or double occupancy rooms. This is the same rate available at the Hyatt Hotel for the CTSA conference (directly across from the Hotel Andaluz). The Hotel Andaluz will honor that rate throughout the ACHTUS Colloquium, AND the CTSA meeting for those who are attending both meetings, however, the block of rooms at the conference rate is only guaranteed for the dates of the Colloquium. Those wishing to stay at the Andaluz through CTSA at the same rate should make their reservations as soon as possible as this rate for the CTSA dates is subject to availability.

This rate is guaranteed for reservations made before April 1. After April 1 the rate depends on availability.

The Hotel Andaluz offers ACHTUS guests several amenities: complimentary wireless high speed internet access; free on site parking, coffee maker for your room on demand. Overnight guests will receive daily passes to New Mexico Sports and Wellness, the athletic club across the street with pool, Zumba and other fitness classes, and full cardio and weight facilities.

TRANSPORTATION: The area airport is the International Albuquerque Sunport, located 5.25 miles from the Hotel Andaluz. An airport shuttle to the hotel can be secured with Sunport Shuttle, via http://sunportshuttle.com/#!/, $20 Round trip, $11 one-way. Taxis from the airport cost approximately $16 one-way. You can also use public transportation directly from the airport (about a 30 minute ride). Check the City of Albuquerque public transit page for directions and fares, http://www.cabq.gov/transit.

ACHTUS MEMBERSHIP DUES:  If you are an ACHTUS member you must be current in your membership by the start of the Colloquium. Present members who have not yet paid either their 2016 and/or 2017 dues may do so by sending a check made payable to ACHTUS to our treasurer, Dr. Gilberto Ruiz, at the following address:

If you owe dues for both 2016 and 2017 please send a check for $96 (2 years of dues); or if you owe dues for only 2017 please send a check for $48.  If you are unsure of what you owe, please email Gilberto at achtus.treasurer@gmail.com.

Invited ACHTUS guests do not need to become members.  However, if they wish to become members they should contact the ACHTUS Secretary, Dr. Hosffman Ospino, at ospinoho@bc.edu, for further instructions. New membership applications will be considered by the ACHTUS board and the membership at our annual business meeting, provided these meet the criteria for eligibility.

Instructions on paying membership dues and Colloquium registration fees VIA PAYPAL are forthcoming. We are currently adding these options to the ACHTUS.US website. We will alert you when these are finalized and available. Check registrations can be processed immediately.
